So you find yourself turning to the Internet to make some extra money, or replace your current income, because you heard some big money can be made there. But after doing just a little research into Internet Marketing, you're just as confused as before you started.

You're confused by the different methods that you have stumbled across during your Internet Marketing research like: search engine optimization (SEO), list building, link building and pay-per-click (PPC). Plus, to make matters worse, all the information you have come across is available on numerous websites that offer to help make you X amount of dollars. Ironically, you have to buy their course to make your fortune.

Here are just a few tips to help you on your way.

Tip #1--Don't buy every course that you see, unless you have deep pockets. Don't get me wrong, there are some good products available out there, just remember to do your homework first before you charge it to your credit card.

Tip #2--Don't sign-up for every newsletter that you come across. If you thought that you had information overload before, just imagine one to three emails a day from the same source (most of the emails are just trying to sell you something) when you just wanted more info to teach you better methods for internet marketing, SEO, or list building.

Now, one of the fastest and easiest ways to get started marketing on the Internet is by affiliate marketing. A brief description of affiliate marketing is: you join an affiliate program, in which you sell the vendor's or multiple vendors' products and with each sale you receive a commission.

Tip #3--Don't join every affiliate program that you come across. You know the old saying: too many eggs in one basket could spoil your whole basket. Meaning, trying to sell too many products can be overwhelming and confusing to the buyer.

Tip #4-Set up a free email account for any newsletter that you join. This way, your main email account doesn't get over run with junk or spam emails.

Tip #5--If you use affiliate products, do a little research on the product first. Make sure it is a good product because nothing is worst then a lot of returns. Some say buy the product yourself and find out if it is any good. You don't want to spend a lot of time promoting this product, if it is below quality standards.

Tip #6--If you choose to set up your own website, try to pick a niche that isn't over populated. Do your research and carry your theme all the way to the products you pick. An example of this would be: dog training. Use that keyword in your domain name, web title, Meta tags and on your main page.

Tip #7-I think this is the most important tips. Learn all that you can about the different ways to drive traffic to your site. No matter if it is a blog, a free web page or something that you pay for. If you don't have traffic, you don't make sales and you don't have the extra income.

I hope these tips help you on your way. Check here if you are looking for some good Internet Marketing resources.(T. Lorentzen)
